5T: Cultural Council to Decide Grant Winners

Here are five things you need to know today in Woburn:

1) Cultural Council

The city's Cultural Council is meeting this evening to make a final decision on cultural grant requests. Good luck to all those that applied!

2) Plan ahead

The Woburn Relay for Life kickoff event is Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. The event will be held at the St. Anthony's Club. Dinner will be at 6 p.m., the program begins at 6:30 p.m. For more information, click here. (Note: Link will bring you off of Woburn Patch.)

3) Almost 60?!

According to the  National Weather Service's pinpointed forecast for Woburn, we are expected to see temperatures in the high-50s, close to 60 degrees! That's rather impressive for January. We could have a little rain in the morning before 11 a.m. Temps will dip into the high-20s after dark.

4) In case you missed it

Our weekly recap in Woburn Police news was posted yesterday. Here it is: Five Police Incidents That Had Woburn Talking.

5) Historic Headline

Let's take a walk through Woburn's history, shall we? A headline in the newspaper regarding Jan. 11 events in Woburn was:

  • 1971—Woburn Firebombings Result in 21 Indictments—Twelve youths were indicted on 21 charges for firebombing incidents.
