An organization that has trained thousands of young basketball players recently moved to Olympia Avenue in Woburn.
Visionary Basketball Group, which was located in Melrose for many years, was founded by Anthony Taylor in 2004. Taylor was one of the leading scorers in Massachusetts high school basketball history and played for Miami of Ohio University.
The new location is at 78 Olympia Ave., which is home to Athletic Evolution, a strength and conditioning program. VBG will be able to take advantage of Athletic Evolution offerings “to take their game to the next level,” according to VBG.
VBG has been offering free skills and drills sessions this month. This week, free sessions are being held from 5 to 8 p.m.
VBG’s summer programs begin the week of June 23, including:
Skills and Drills – Skills & Drills sessions are offered seven days a week. Beginner, intermediate & advance levels. Athletes are split into different groups bases on skill level.
Complete Player – These clinics are offered 9 a.m.-2 p.m. during school breaks with flexibility to accommodate every need. Athletes don't have to commit for the whole week (drop in allowed). Recommended for beginners and intermediate players.
XTreme Complete Player – These clinics are offered 9 a.m. to noon during school breaks for advanced players.
TMX Academy – TMX is an all-day program (9 a.m.-5 p.m.) with components of on the court basketball training, Athletic Evolution strength and conditioning and nutrition. TMX Academy is geared toward serious players who have already gone through the beginning phases of learning fundamental basketball skills.
Battle Royal Basketball League (Begins July 7) – Competitive play. One game per week. Teams are offered for girls & boys at all skill levels. Battle Royal is a fun format to learn and develop.
