Car Bursts Into Flames Near Exit 35 in Woburn

Drivers on Rte. 129 Tuesday may have seen smoke billowing into the sky during their morning commute after a car burst into flames.

WOBURN, MA — Crews responded to a car on fire on Rte. 128 Northbound in Woburn Tuesday morning, according to State Police Sergeant Tom Ryan. At around 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, the car burst into flames on the side of the road.

Ryan told Patch that the car was a 2005 Kia Sportage, and there were no reported injuries as a result of the fire. The Woburn Fire Department was able to quickly suppress the blaze.

TTN Boston reports that drivers were delayed approximately nine minutes. Images from the scene show the car fully engulfed in flames, and black smoke billowing from the vehicle into the sky.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
