Police Log: Driverless Car Crashes Into Porch
Excerpts from the Woburn Police Department log.

Thursday, Oct. 2
At 7:53 a.m., police received a call from Main Street after a two-car accident. A driver slid on a large puddle of diesel fuel that had spilled onto the road and the car rear-ended another vehicle. There were no injuries. The DPW responded to put sand on the spill.
At 9:23 a.m., police responded to a two-car accident on Washington Street. There were no reported injuries. One vehicle was towed.

At 1:26 p.m., police responded to the Route 38 rotary after a three-car accident. One driver didn’t yield and caused the crash. That driver fled the scene. Another driver complained of neck and back pain and was taken to the hospital. Two vehicles were towed.
At 4:50 p.m., an employee at Busa Liquors reported credit card fraud. A customer used a credit card to purchase about $120 worth of alcohol, including scotch and vodka. His card was declined, but he left the store with the alcohol. The employee found that a group of men have been using fraudulent credit cards to purchase high-end alcohol in the area. Police are investigating and may file charges pending confirmation of the credit card being fraudulent.

At 10:14 p.m., police responded to 3rd Road after a car crashed into a porch. The car was parked in the driveway for about 20 minutes when it rolled in reverse and crashed into the porch, damaging the porch, foundation, lawn and landscaping. There was damage to the rear of the vehicle, including a broken rear window. There was no one in the car at the time of the crash.
Friday, Oct. 3
At 5:55 a.m., police arrested Brian Carmichael, 49, 79 Cambridge Road, Woburn, and charged him on a probation warrant. Police made the arrest at the man’s residence.
