Police Raid Woburn-Based Sports Apparel Company, Confiscate Counterfeit Merchandise

Authorities raided a Woburn-based company accused of selling counterfeit NFL merchandise and confiscated Patriots items and more, Woburn Police said in a release Friday night.

Woburn and Topsfield Police along with the Department of Homeland Security and NFL representatives executed a search warrant early Thursday afternoon at Chowdaheadz company headquarters on Industrial Parkway following a two-month-long investigation.

NFL representatives received information in 2016 from Homeland Security Investigations that a kiosk in the South Shore Plaza in Braintree was selling counterfeit NFL items, police said. The items were adorned with the "Do Your Job" slogan coined by Patriots coach Bill Belichick. The phrase is trademarked by New England Patriots, LLC.

Authorities ascertained the kiosk purchased the counterfeit items from Born Into It, Inc., which was doing business as Chowdaheadz, an online retailer selling Boston sports merchandise.

Thursday's raid resulted in counterfeit t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and other items, police said. Authorities also obtained business records, production materials, and equipment.

“I would like to praise the hard work across all of the agencies involved in this case including Woburn Police and investigators from Topsfield Police, Homeland Security and the NFL,” Woburn Police Chief Robert Ferullo said. “We will continue to assist in any way we can to aid this investigation moving forward.”

The investigation remains ongoing. All criminal charges, including counterfeit merchandise or services in violation of M.G.L. c266 s147, will be brought forth by summons.
