Vanessa Marcotte Murder: 1,000 Tips Have Come In

Investigators continue to chase more than one thousand tips in the murder of Vanessa Marcotte.

WORCESTER COUNTY, MA—The Worcester District Attorney’s Office and Massachusetts State Police reassured the public on Wednesday that they continue to intensively investigate the homicide of Vanessa Marcotte in Princeton.

The 27-year-old Marcotte was discovered dead outside in Princeton on Sunday, Aug. 7. An employee at Google's New York City office and Boston University alumna, Marcotte went missing during a jog while visiting her mother in Princeton. A K-9 police dog found Marcotte's body about a half-mile from her mother's home that night, and investigators say she was last seen on Brooks Station Road that afternoon.

DA Joseph Early said that investigators were "making progress" days after the murder, and announced a tip line that brought in thousands of tips.

"Detectives are following up on every lead and all tips that contain potentially credible information," said Early in a statement on Wednesday. "We have received more than 1,000 tips. We are working hard to find justice for Ms. Marcotte and her family. I continue to urge anyone with information to call the tip line at 508-453-7589."
