Yesterday's test sample which was taken at 10 a.m. will not be ready until noon today at the earliest. We will have any more updates this afternoon concerning the opening of Sweatt Beach.

Original Story

After a brief scare with high bacteria counts, Sweatt Beach at Lake Pearl is hoping to reopen at noon today.

On July 2, samples taken of the lake showed a high level of the E. coli bacteria but two samples taken of the lake's water during the week have come back negative according to Recreation Director Jeff Plympton.

There was one more sample taken on July 5 with the results expected the morning of the next day. As long as the results come back with safe numbers, then the beach will be reopened.

Once we get an update concerning the beach’s reopening we will post it here
