responded to the 10000 block of East Grand River Avenue in Brighton Township on Wednesday afternoon to investigate a burglary.

Police said that around 2 p.m., homeowners returned home from shopping to find a silver hatchback car, make and model unknown, parked in their driveway.

Police said that the homeowners were approached by a male, wearing an orange hard hat and safety vest, who lured the homeowners to the rear of their backyard under the pretext of showing them a drain problem.

The homeowners told police that the man made several phone calls using a cell phone, then walked with them back to the house. Police said when the homeowners looked out their front window, the suspects' silver vehicle was gone.

Police said afterwards, the homeowners discovered approximately $1,000 in cash missing from a drawer.

The man is described as being 5’10 to 6’00” in height with a medium build and a beard. He was wearing glasses.
