Bob Daniels, Chelsea Lumber Owner, Dies at Age 83
The longtime Chelsea resident was an active member of the community and father of Hollywood actor Jeff Daniels.

Robert Daniels, 83, died unexpectedly Sept. 1, 2012 due to natural causes. He was born March 10, 1929, the son of Warren R. & Gertrude E. (Storms) Daniels.
Mr. Daniels was very active in Chelsea, where he was the president of Chelsea Lumber Company, an active member of Chelsea First United Methodist Church, and a former president of the Village of Chelsea.
Commenting on news of Daniels' death, Chelsea Mayor Jason Lindauer said the longtime family friend left a large footprint in the community.

"I had the honor of knowing Bob since I was a very young boy. He was then, and now until today, a shining example of leadership in the community, both from a business and moral standpoint," Lindauer said. "He made decisions that affect future generations, not just the here and now. That's the example many of us look to and try to emulate.
"Someone with Bob's character and humility comes along once in a lifetime and we're very grateful he was a part of our community. He is and will always be revered and respected."

Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Marjorie Daniels, and three children, John, Jeff, and Jodi. There will be private services for the family, and a memorial service for the community at a later date. A full obituary will be published in the next few days. Arrangements are being handled by Cole Funeral Chapel.
