Crack Pipe Recovered By Police During Traffic Stop
Police recovered a crack pipe and a piece of Chore Boy scouring pad from an Oak Park man after a traffic stop in Dearborn Dec. 26.

The driver of the 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe was stopped at Outer Drive and east Michigan Avenue around 3:40 p.m. for having an expired license plate, the report said.

A background check of the man, 48, also revealed that he had multiple current and seven prior suspensions.

As the man exited the vehicle, the piece of scouring pad, used for smoking crack, fell out of his pocket. When police asked him about the Chore Boy and whether there was any crack in the car, he told police he had a crack pipe but claimed to not have any crack.

Police recovered the crack pipe from the center console and found no crack in the vehicle. He was arrested for the expired plate and for possession of drug paraphernalia.
