Dearborn Police: Avoid Edsel Ford During Terry Jones Protest

Dearborn police are asking residents to avoid Edsel Ford High School on Thursday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. because of a planned protest by Terry Jones, according to a Nixle alert.

Jones, a Florida pastor, is well known in Dearborn, having visited the city three times since April 2011 to protest what he said is the spread of Islamic law in the city.

Jones is returning Thursday “to protest the bullying of non-Muslim students,” according to a press release from Stand Up America Now on behalf of Jones.

Though some parents have expressed concerns about safety because of Jones’ protest, Dearborn Public Schools superintendent Brian Whiston said Edsel Ford is “probably going to be the safest place in America” on Thursday.
