Divine Child Cheer Heads to State Championships Saturday

The Falcons will face off against seven teams in Grand Rapids.

Can the Falcons pull it off this year?

The Divine Child High School varsity cheer team is headed to the Division 2 State Finals on Saturday, March 2, at the Grand Rapids DeltaPlex. There, DC will compete against Allen Park, DeWitt, Gibraltar Carlson, Grand Rapids Christian, Mt. Pleasant, St. Joseph and Wyandotte Roosevelt.

The competition starts at 10 a.m.

The stakes are high for the DC squad, which came in at second place to Gibraltar Carlson in 2012 and 2011. Last year, the Lady Falcons were just three points shy of the title.

After placing second in districts, the team went on to win their regional competition on Saturday, Feb. 16. The girls also took home their 11th consecutive Detroit Catholic High School League title in January.

All performances from state finals will be archived at MHSAA.tv for on-demand viewing, and DVDs of the event can be ordered online from mhsaa.com.
