Go Vegan, Help Homeless Animals at the No Beast Feast

Local eateries will show off their vegetarian fare at the ’s No Beast Feast, set for Friday, Sept. 14.

The event will take place from 6-10 p.m. at , located at 23400 Park Street in Dearborn. It will feature fresh, hearty and local vegan cuisine–including specialty appetizers, entrees and desserts from , Park Place Catering, Culinary Arts School and the Inn Season Café of Royal Oak.

This year, author and presenter Dr. Kerrie Saunders will also visit the No Beast Feast to offer insight about how plant-based foods can be nutritional heroes.

Dr. Saunders will be showing a sneak preview of her new Food Demo DVD series, When Bachelor Meets Homemaker (packed with super simple, super nutritional recipes) with pre-sales available during the evening and partial proceeds benefiting the Dearborn Animal Shelter.

The evening’s activities also include door prizes, a tin can raffle and entertainment. Attendees can take home recipes to try vegetarian specialties in their own kitchens, or pick up a Vegetarian Starter Kit from VegMichigan.

Elaine Greene, executive director of the Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter, urged animal supporters–including those who eat meat–to try something new at the No Beast Feast.

“This is a great way to experience vegetarian fare for those who are curious about new food choices, have vegetarian friends or are simply ready for a fun evening out to benefit the animals in our care,” she said.

Tickets for the No Beast Feast are $45 in advance, $50 at the door. Tickets include a full dinner, soft drinks, beer, wine and more. All food is prepared vegan. Purchase tickets from the Shelter’s website www.DearbornAnimals.org, or by calling 313-943-2697.
