SRSLY Chelsea, a community coalition established to prevent destructive behavior in Chelsea youth, is gearing up for its fifth annual New Year’s Eve party.
More than 1,200 people have attended the SRSLY New Year’s Eve Party during the past four years. This year’s family-friendly event features a large line-up of performers and, event organizers are extending the invitation to neighboring communities.
The party will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 31 at Beach Middle School. The event is free and open to the public.
Coalition members are planning games and activities that will appeal to all ages, including team games and competitions (eating contests, relay races, card games), face painting, video games on classroom Smart Boards, cookie-decorating, live music, swimming, basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, and a chili cook-off.
This year, Liquid Plasma, the Chelsea youth dance troup; Mikhaila & Will; and Spin Cycle will be performing.
“We are really excited about all the great music and dance we have lined up for entertainment," said Jesse Kauffman, SRSLY program coordinator.
The first five entrants in the chili cook-off will receive a $10 gift card to Polly’s Country Market to purchase supplies. To sign up for the chili cook-off, contact Jesse Kauffman at email@example.com or call 734-593-5283.
Door prizes will be awarded every half hour, and will include gift certificates to local restaurants and businesses, board games, and free passes to bowling.
Pizza, pop, and other refreshments will be available for a suggested donation of $1 per item.
“Our goal is to provide a fun and safe environment in which kids and parents can celebrate together,” said Reiley Curran, SRSLY director.
