Overview: The Breakfast Club is locals’ favorite joint for breakfast in Farmington Hills, as evident by the long lines on weekends. It’s a comfy, laid-back spot for grabbing breakfast on the way to work or a gathering with friends and family for a leisurely meal on a Sunday morning. There are familiar breakfast faves, dishes with a Mexican twist and fare on the lighter side.

Decor: The space features lots of natural light, but with the white walls, plastic tablecloths and doilies the décor is a bit dated, like Titanic era. But you won’t worry about what your surroundings look like, because your gaze will be fixated on your breakfast.

The Drinks: Freshly squeezed O.J. and plenty of coffee refills before your cup is even empty. You can also get other juices, teas, fountain drinks and hot apple cider.

Appetizers: Sweet Potato Puffs for Sharing (loaded with melted cheese, bacon, onions and sour cream), Cinnasticks or Breakfast Nachos (housemade tortilla chips topped with scrambled eggs, chorizo, sausage, tomatoes, onions, olives and cheese served with salsa and sour cream on the side; perfect for sharing or eating as your main meal).

Entrees: Beloved breakfast dishes such as pancakes, French toast and omelets, with a delicious Breakfast Club spin. The Banana Caramel French Toast ($6.95) is better than eating cake: just the right amount of sweetness pleases the palate with the scrumptious combo of banana and caramel. The Classic Eggs Benedict ($9.95) is served on toast, which isn’t the right vessel for the poached eggs; we missed the typical English muffin. Other breakfast plates fall under Eggstravaganza! (omelets that range from smoked salmon with capers and cream cheese to spinach, tomato and feta to chili n’ cheddar stuffed omelet), Breakfast Bowls (meat lovers, Tex Mex, Mediterranean, and Carbonara Bowl), South of Texas (Mexican inspired dishes such as Breakfast Quesadilla and Breakfast Enchiladas) to Just Your Regular Breakfast (good old-fashioned eggs, meat, toast and hash browns). You can also get lunch such as fresh garden salads such as the Traverse City Salad, featuring dried Michigan cherries, almonds, bleu cheese and chicken, and sandwiches. But with Breakfast Club in the name you have to at least try breakfast before ordering a club sandwich.

Sides: Depending on what breakfast dish you order, you can get meat (bacon, sausage, etc.) fruit or toast. Their house side specialty is the tomatoes au gratin—sliced tomatoes smothered in melted cheese.

Desserts: Each meal ends on a sweet note with complementary chocolate-covered strawberries.

Service: If it’s a weekend morning, be prepared to wait, especially if you have a large group. The wait staff is friendly and fast despite busy crowds, and they always have a fresh pot of coffee at the ready for refills.

Signature Dish(es): Oven baked French toast, carrot cake pancakes, tomatoes au gratin.
