Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants Elects 2013-2014 Board

The Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) recently announced its new executive committee and Board of Directors.  The organization elected Randolph C. Paschke as the chair of its board and welcomed four new Board members to an impressive roster of CPA professionals.  New members are Virgie M. Ammerman, Donald W. Gribbin, James N.Lopiccolo and Michelle F. Randall.


“We have assembled a great team of professionals to lead the MACPA into 2014,” said Peggy Dzierzawski, president and CEO of the MACPA.  “I am looking forward to see what will be accomplished in the next year.”


The 2013-2014 MACPA Board of Director’s Executive Committee will be:


Randolph C. Paschke, Chair:  Randy Paschke has served as the chair of the Wayne State University Accounting department since 2002.  Having also taught at Macomb County Community College, he has spent more than 30 years in public accounting, consulting and working as a partner at Arthur Andersen.  He is a resident of Ann Arbor.


Doug Roosa, CPA,Chair-Elect:  Since 2009, Roosa has served as the Director of Internal Controls & SOX Compliance with General Motors Company.  Prior to joining GM, he served as a general auditor with Masco Corporation and as an independent consultant, amongst other positions with a variety of companies.  Involved in numerous organizations and boards of directors, he resides in Ann Arbor.


Stephanie W. Bergeron, MBA, CGMA, Treasurer: A resident of Birmingham, Bergeron has been the president and COO of Walsh College since 2007.  Prior to joining Walsh, she spent 25 years in automotive industry finance at companies including General Motors and Chrysler.  Involved in the community, she serves on numerous boards and has been named, twice, as a “Most Influential Woman” by Crain’s Detroit Business.




Elizabeth (Betsy) W. Meter, SecretaryAn audit partner with KPMG, LLP in Detroit, Meter specializes in serving clients in the automotive and industrial markets, sectors which she has worked with for nearly 30 years.  She also serves as the firm’s US Automotive Industry Lead Partner – Audit and is the office’s partner in charge of recruiting and alumni relations. She resides in Birmingham.


John Pridnia, Past Chair:  Pridnia is a managing principal at Rehmann in Muskegon.  For more than 25 years, he has provided tax, trust and estate planning, private placement insurance and mergers and acquisition services to his clients.  Serving on the boards of numerous local organizations, Pridnia resides in Muskegon. 


The 2013-2014 MACPA new Board members are:


Virgie M. Ammerman, MBA, CPA, CGMA, CITP:  Ammerman is the president of 180 Medical Billing Services in Portage and owns a consulting practice, Ammerman and Associates.  For nearly 20 years, she has served in leadership positions in industry and public accounting, including with the MACPA as vice chair of the Controller’s Task Force and as a member of the Michigan Turnaround Task Force.  She is currently the foundation chair and chair of the Audit Committee of the Portage Rotary Club, is the newly appointed director on the Portage Community Center Board and is a discussion leader for Executive Education, Inc.  She resides in Portage.


Donald W. Gribbin: A resident of Portage, Gribbin has served as a professor with tenure and chair of the Department of Accountancy at Western Michigan University since 2006.  Prior to joining the University, he served in various teaching positions at Southern Illinois University, Oklahoma State University and was a staff accountant at Bristol Leisenring Herkner & Co., now part of Plante & Moran, in Battle Creek.


James N. Lopiccolo, CPA, CGMA: A resident of Oxford, James Lopiccolo Jamie has worked as a CPA for more than a decade.  A CPA at Troy-based The Henry Group, PC, he provides accounting, financial reporting, tax planning and preparation to individuals, corporations, partnerships and trusts.  He previously served as chairman of the MACPA”s Small Practitioners Task Force and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).


Michelle F. Randall, CPA: Michelle Randall has served as an Associate Professor of Accounting at Schoolcraft College in Livonia since 1999.  Prior to joining Schoolcraft, the Farmington Hills resident was a Senior Financial Analyst at Lear Corporation, Senior Accountant at Federal Mogul Corporation and Senior Auditor at KPMG Peat Marwick, LLP.  She is a member of the MACPA’s Educators Task Force, having previously served as Chair.  She is the first community college professor to receive the MACPA’s Teaching Excellence Award.
