Freakin' Unbelievable Burgers, which opened Jan. 9 in Farmington Hills, offers patrons a chance to dine on casual fare in real style.

The interior of the former Burger King on Orchard Lake Road now features a chandelier hanging in what was a children's play area. Brent Skaggs, one of the restaurant parent company's six owners, said it took four months to transform the 45-year-old building.

Skaggs said the Farmington Hills design is an "elevated" version of the company's Flint restaurant.

"This will be the model we will franchise off of going forward," he said.

There are a dozen burgers on the Freakin' Unbelievable Burgers menu, including black bean and grilled salmon, with 44 toppings and the option to have a gluten-free bun. The restaurant has a liquor license and serves regional craft beers.

Skaggs said since the "soft opening", customers have given the restaurant rave reviews. Greater Farmington Area Chamber members who attended a Jan. 17 ribbon cutting gave the samples of burgers, fries, sweet potato fries and other fare rave reviews.

The most common reaction, Skaggs said, has been "it's freakin' unbelievable!".
