I am not so much a picky eater, as I am a specific eater. I enjoy particular foods in certain dishes but not in others, I am not a vegetarian but could easily give up meat; and with dishes containing many ingredients, the chances that I will like them all is not very likely. For these reasons, restaurants with an easily customizable menu make my dining experience much easier. The Fenton Deli, located at 15258 Silver Parkway is just such a place.

Originally a Quizno's, The Fenton Deli owners of gave up the franchise game to customize an entire restaurant. The deli focuses on soups and salads, with enough options to ensure that your taste buds will never get bored.

This was my first visit to The Fenton Deli and I was pleasantly surprised to find pretzel bread as a choice. It is a fantastic bread on which to host a sandwich, but rarely an option. Turkey, lettuce and mild peppers were added to the pretzel bread to complete a simple and perfect sandwich for me and my specific tastes. The pretzel bread was just as I wanted it to be, slightly sweet with a pretzel crust exterior and a soft and chewy interior. The size of the bread is similar to a roll and probably would not be satisfying for those with a large appetite. As I was looking for a light lunch, this was not a problem.

The other sandwiches come in a variety of sizes and can be made with variations of bread including oven warm subs, flatbread, and hoagies. Top your favorite bread with turkey, ham, roast beef, bologna, tuna or one of the many other choices from a long list of meats. Vegetarian subs are also available. Unique sandwiches found on The Fenton Deli menu include the pulled pork flatbread made with mozzarella and barbecue sauce, a meatball sub, and lamb or chicken gyros. The list of sandwiches could continue for pages. For small diners, there are the traditional grilled cheese, ham and cheese and B.L.T. sandwiches along with several other kid-friendly meals.

A large sandwich is $7.99 and the most expensive item you will find on the menu. The kids meals include a cookie or chips and small soft drink or milk for a total of $3.99.

If you are not in the mood for a sandwich, The Fenton Deli serves mini pizzas and Fenton Deli dogs, both for under $3.00. Broccoli cheese soup, chili and a soup of the day come in portions of a cup, bowl or served in a bread bowl. Salads range from the most basic to the uncommon, such as the steak salad comprised of steak, bacon, tomato and blue cheese.

My visit to this sandwich haven left me excited to return to discover  more delicious creations.
