Starting in the spring, downtown Fenton might look a little more artsy.
The Fenton Downtown Development Authority (DDA) approved a proposal from Midwest Sculpture Intiative (MSI) to rent sculptures that will be displayed in the downtown area from May 2013 to April 2014.
There will be six temporary pieces installed for a cost of $9,054.
"Our master plan called for art," DDA Chairman Craig Schmidt said. "Cities have used it sucessfully and it's been a long time coming for us."
MSI will pre-select the sculptures that are suitable for various sites and provide digital images for the DDA to approve. MSI will also provide biographical information for each sculpture.
DDA member John Strayer said MSI officials have suggested lining Leroy Street with the sculptures.
"I think our community would really enjoy it," Strayer said.
