Photo Gallery: Camp Casey's Cowgirls (and Cowboys) Come to Town
Pub crawl raises nearly $3,000 and brings out more than 150 people, according to organizers.
, a nonprofit dedicated to helping children with cancer through equestrian activities, held a fundraiser Saturday. It was a Cowgirl Pub Crawl through the streets of Ferndale.
Boy did a lot of cowgirls, and cowboys for that matter, come out for the evening.
We caught up with Public Affairs Director Lauren Maiman and asked her a few questions about the evening:

Ferndale Patch: How much money did Camp Casey raise?
Maiman: We raised nearly $3,000 for Camp Casey!
Ferndale Patch: What were some of the highlights from the evening?
Maiman: All of the bars involved were incredible to work with. Highlights of the evening included the delicious appetizers at the (), where we started our crawl, and, of course, karaoke and coneys at . We were so thrilled with the crowd of people that attended, both familiar faces and new friends. We couldn't be happier with the turnout and hope to grow it even larger (and with possibly more stops!) next year.
Ferndale Patch: What's up next for Camp Casey?
Maiman: Our next fundraiser is the Kentucky Derby Dash, held May 7 at Kensington Metro Park in Milford. It's a 5K run and a 1-mile walk. There's more info and details on how to register at www.camp-casey.org. In addition to needing runners for the event, we're looking for any type of sponsorships or donations – like apples, bananas and granola bars for the day. We also have a Cowboy Auction in the works for July 16 at Coyote Joe's in Shelby Township. More details to come on that!
