Update: Power to be Restored Within Hour

A DTE crew trimming a tree led to the power outage in Grosse Pointe Woods today. DTE officials contacted Grosse Pointe Woods shortly after 3 p.m. to say the power would be restored within an hour.

Update: Power to be Restored Within Hour

The in northeast of Mack and Vernier are expected to regain power within the hour, according to a Nixle alert sent by the Grosse Pointe Woods Department of Public Safety shortly after 3 p.m.

Dozens of crews were spotted working along Goethe near Brys, Roslyn and Hampton following the area outage.

According to the Nixle alert, DTE officials said during tree trimming in the 1700 block of Hampton a downed branch also caused a downed wire--ultimately causing the area outage for the neighborhood long plagued by outages.

The outage came after some residents report hearing a loud boom in the area. It also comes as to explain what the cause was earlier this summer that left the neighborhood in the dark for three days during a dangerous heat wave.

Police turned the Mack and Vernier intersection into a roundabout for a short time this afternoon but the traffic light has already been returned to working order with a generator.
