Hartland Church Has Initial Site Plans Approved for New Location

Hartland Church Has Initial Site Plans Approved for New Location

After more than 10 years serving the community, The River Church, which currently meets at the Hartland Educational Support Service Center, has completed the first step in their efforts to begin construction on a new church in Hartland.

Located on 75 acres of land between Hacker and Cullen Roads the church's director of operations Mark Freego said that the organization is hoping to be able to start construction this summer.

With a square footage of more than 38,000 feet, Freego said the larger space would be able to better accommodate their growing ministry.

“We’re excited and I think it’s going to be a real benefit to the community,” Freego said.

While the site plan is still in the early stages of a three-tiered plan development phase, Hartland Township planner Dave Campbell said that the project is “progressing well” and each stage will have to be approved by the planning committee and board of trustees.

“They will be held to the same standards that every other development would be held to,” Campbell said. “We’re already working with them on approving their architecture to make it a building that is consistent with all the other commercial buildings in Hartland Township.”

The River Church has also considered long-term goals as well, according to Campbell, which may include possible residential homes built on the back part of the property, but no formal plan has been discussed yet.
