Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain Expected Monday

Scattered thunderstorms are likely today and this evening, according to a hazardous weather statement issued early Monday morning by the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac.

The best chances for thunderstorms will be between 5 p.m. Monday and 2 a.m. Tuesday, though severe weather is not expected at this time, according to the weather service.

The strongest storms, however, could produce wind gusts up to 50 m.p.h. as they move east at 25 m.p.h. The storms will also be able to produce locally heavy rainfall.
