Body of Chesterfield Man Found Behind Kroger

The body of a 26-year-old Chesterfield Township man was discovered Friday in a wooded area behind , said Tuesday.

The man was last seen by his parents Sunday, when he left their home after an argument, township Detective Sgt. Deron Myers said.

“They saw him at noon on Lakewood street; they said he was intoxicated and left the house on foot," Myers said.

The man was known to hang out in the thick, wooded area behind the grocery store on 23 Mile, sometimes spending the night there, Myers said.

His parents reported him missing Tuesday and police found his body Friday during a four-hour search of the woods, ending around 4 p.m.

“As of Friday, there was no information to his whereabouts yet and our detectives, along with two Michigan State Police dogs that we summoned, began searching the area," Myers said. "He was located by one of the Michigan State Police dogs, deceased."

Police say it's possible the man passed away Sunday, but the investigation into his death remains ongoing. At this time, they do not suspect foul play.

Macomb County Medical Examiner Dr. Daniel Spitz confirmed Tuesday he conducted an autopsy over the weekend, but did not release the results, citing the ongoing police investigation. Toxicology test results are expected to return in upcoming weeks.
