From the register to the apron

A employee confessed to stealing a total of $1,800 from the store register by placing cash in her apron pocket from May 12 to May 31, according to a late June police report.

A store asset protection specialist reported that video surveillance was set up on the checkout area after cash shortages were discovered. The video captured the employee stashing the money from the register, police said.

She later admitted to the theft, police said.

Man begging for cab money gets free police ride

A man begging for cash at the Speedway gas station so he could catch a cab ride wound up with a free ride from police, according to a police report.

Late June 13, police responded to reports that a man was asking people at the gas station for money. He told the officer he was seeking money to pay for a cab ride. The officer discovered there were several outstanding arrest warrants for the man, including one undisclosed one out of Eastpointe, police said.

The man was advised that it's illegal to beg for money in Chesterfield and placed under arrest for suspicion of obstructing justice. He was turned over to Eastpointe police.

Energy drink theft prompts wired police pursuit

A man suspected of stealing 60 cases of Red Bull and various liquor bottles from on 23 Mile in mid-June led police on a chase before striking another vehicle and fleeing on foot, police said.

At approximately 9 a.m. June 17, Kroger officials reported a retail fraud involving an unidentified man and woman who left the store in a gold Grand Prix.

Police, who were on look out for the car, found out the driver had rear-ended a Jeep while trying to get away. Clinton Township police found him hiding under a deck in the community.

Chesterfield Township police recovered 60 cases of the energy drink, three bottles of Jack Daniels, one bottle of Belvedere Vodka, two bottles of Johnnie Walker, and several other liquor bottles. They also found stolen men's razors and AXE body wash from , police said.
