Election 2012: Thomas Yack, Canton Township Trustee Candidate

Thomas Yack, candidate for Canton Township Trustee

Age: 65

Party affiliation: Republican

Spouse/Kids: Married to Barbara (43 years), four adult children

Length of residency: 41 years

Prior political experience: 11 years Plymouth-Canton Board of Education (4 years President), 2 years Canton Public Library Board, 20 years Canton Supervisor

Why are you seeking office?: I believe my experience, knowledge and insight into current issues confronting our community can add value to the Canton Board of Trustees. I have continued my involvement in our community.

What issues do you see confronting Canton?: Fiscal issues remain a top priority, followed by maintenance of roads, and improved communication with Canton residents.

What is your plan to address these issues?: Increased attention to all forms of economic development, it is important that Canton continue to grow in the areas of residential, commercial and industrial. The condition of Canton roads is very important to residents, I will support efforts for Canton to receive Act 51 funds directly from the State of Michigan. The establishment of SAD's should be considered for local roads. Increased cooperation with the County and State could lead to additional funds. Canton's website should be improved dramatically.
