12-Year-Old in Juvenile Custody after Allegedly Threatening Grandmother, Sister with Knife

A 12-year-old girl from Rochester Hills was arrested around 3 a.m. Monday after she allegedly threatened her grandmother and sister with a knife.

Oakland County Sheriff’s officials found the girl in a park with an 18-year-old man after they went to a home on Nicole Street to investigate a report that she had run away, The Oakland Press reports.

The 18-year-old was identified and released and authorities took the girl back to the home and released her to her grandmother. However, they were called back to the scene shortly after leaving when the girl “became more aggressive,” the sheriff’s office said.

The girl’s grandmother, who is 59, said she picked up a kitchen knife and directed threatening statements at her and the girl’s sister, 20. She dropped the knife and ran out of the house before deputies arrived, but was located.

She was charged with felonious assault and taken to Oakland County Children’s Village.
