On a Hot Fall Day, 2,300 Pumpkins Decorate a Stone Wall

From owls and cats to Detroit Tigers and Justin Bieber, pumpkin carvers got creative Saturday at the Stone Wall Pumpkin Festival. (Share your pumpkin here with Patch readers.)

Which pumpkin was your favorite?

Was it the jack o' lantern with the pumpkin seeds as teeth? Was it Frankenstein? The Apple logo that paid homage to Steve Jobs?

Or was it one of more than 30 pumpkins with a Detroit Tigers theme?

On Saturday at the , more than 2,000 people came together to enjoy a warm fall day and carve a pumpkin to place on the stone wall that lines the museum property. Later on Saturday night, many of them returned to see their creations all aglow.

Museum director Pat McKay said they started the day with 2,100 pumpkins and refilled the patch twice with orders of 100 pumpkins each time. McKay said the weather — the temperature reached the high 70s — contributed to the day's success.
