Voters Elect Candidates for Oakland Countywide Seats

Incumbent County Executive L. Brooks Patterson and incumbent County Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard win the Republican nominations by a wide margin.

Voters Elect Candidates for Oakland Countywide Seats

Here are the results for countywide seats in the Aug. 7 primary with 62 percent of the precincts reporting. Results are unofficial.

Executive

Incumbent L. Brooks Patterson received 89.8 percent of the vote to defeat challenger E. Wadsworth Sherrod III, who received 9.96 percent of the vote, for the Republican nomination. In the November election, Patterson will face Democratic candidate Kevin Howley, who ran unopposed.

    Prosecuting Attorney

    Incumbent Jessica R. Cooper ran unopposed in the Democractic primary. In November, Cooper will face Republican Mike Bishop, who also ran unopposed.

      Sheriff

      Incumbent Michael J. Bouchard received 87.9 percent of the vote to defeat challenger James Stevens who received 11.9 percent of the vote, for the Republican nomination. In the November election, Bouchard will face Democrat Jane Felice Boudreau, who ran unopposed.  

        Clerk/Register of Deeds

        Incumbent Bill Bullard, Jr. ran unopposed for the Republican nomination. Bullard will face Democrat Lisa Brown, who also ran unopposed.

        Treasurer

        Republican candidate Marty Knollenberg will face Democrat Andy Meisner in November. Both candidates were uncontested in the primary.

          Water Resources Commissioner

          Jim Nash received 61.3 percent of the vote defeating Mark Danowski who received 38.1 percent of the vote for the Democratic nomination. Nash will now face Republican John P. McCulloch, who ran unopposed.

          6th Circuit Court judge

          Karen McDonald led with 35.4 percent of the vote. Dan Christ followed with 22 percent and Jason Pernick with 15.9 percent.

          Oakland County Comissioner

          Because of redistricting, Rochester and Rochester Hills now fall into two different County Commission districts. 

          • District 11: This district covers the western half of Rochester Hills and Troy. Incumbent Robert Gosselin, a Republican from Troy, ran unopposed against and will face unopposed Democrat Louise Schilling of Troy.
          • District 15: This district covers all of Rochester and the eastern half of Rochester Hills.  of Rochester, an incumbent, was the only candidate running for this position.

          Oakland County Public Transportation Millage

          The millage passed with 79 percent of voters in support of renewing 0.59 mills and 20.9 percent voting 'no.'
