First there was American Idol.

Then The Voice.

And now the young musical talent of Rochester Hills has its own place to shine— and get a little wet in the process!

will be hosting Wet and Wild Wednesdays from July 11 through August 8.

Most residents are familiar with the popular event. There's the "wet" portion with giant slip-and-slides down the hill, creek wading and a fire truck spray in the lower parking area. And there is entertainment — which on August 8 could be you!

How to be a part of the Music Festival

This year there will be a bonus Wet and Wild Wednesday held on August 8, starting an hour earlier than usual.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the museum is hosting the Van Hoosen Farm Children's Music Festival.

To audition for your three to five minutes of fame, call 248-656-4663. Auditions will be held on Thursday, August 2. Indivduals or small groups enterting grades K-12 this fall are welcome to audition.

"Musician  Guy Louis will MC the event," said Patrick Endres, a staff assistant at the museum.

Water fun follows the festival.

The other Wednesdays

All the other Wet and Wild Wednesdays, including this Wednesday, will have the traditional noon start time.

Admission is free for Museum Members and $3 for non-members ages 2 and up, including adults. No advanced registration is necessary.

The first hour of the event features live entertainment in the gazebo:

  • July 11- Zippity2dads
  • July 18- Tom Plunkard Magic Show
  • July 25- Guy Louis- High Powered Family Concert
  • August 1- The Spoon Man- Watch the flaming spoons of death!

From 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the slip-and-slides and fire truck will provide water fun.

"The slip-and-slides and fire truck end at 2 p.m., but everyone is welcome to enjoy the grounds, including the creek and the Museum's Children's garden throughout the day," Endres said.

The Rochester Hills Museum is located at 1005 Van Hoosen Road, one mile east of Rochester Road off Tienken. For more information call 248-656-4663.
