Camp Casey Just Got a Little More Horsepower

Camp Casey wins $20,000 from Chase Community Giving.

Camp Casey Just Got a Little More Horsepower

Camp Casey, the local nonprofit horseback riding program for kids with cancer and their families, was selected from an applicant pool of 30,000 to take part in Chase Bank's two-week-long contest.  Winners were determined based on the number of votes they were able to garner both via Facebook and Chase Bank's member website.

Camp Casey finished at 62, securing the Royal Oak-based charity a $20,000 grant.  The great news comes appropriately timed during Childhood Cancer Awareness month.

"We can't tell our supporters how much this means to us. This makes an enormous difference to a small nonprofit like ours," said Molly Reeser, executive director of Camp Casey.  "With this money alone, we will be able to make an additional 20 Horsey House Calls next summer.  That means we could be reaching an extra 20 families--so potentially upwards of 100 people--who are dealing with a pediatric cancer diagnosis.”

Chase Community Giving handed out over $5 million in grant money through this contest with the top prize--$250,000--going to ECN, a Boston-based charity dedicated to helping Egyptian hospitals.  The top 196 charities all received some type of compensation.
