BlackFinn American pub will officially start serving classic fare, local brews and cocktails Friday to local residents at its renovated downtown location at 530 S. Main St. A ribbon-cutting ceremony, hosted by the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce, takes place at 5 p.m. on Feb. 28.
The 206-seat restaurant will serve lunch, dinner, appetizers and desserts seven days a week, including 30 new fresh items such as Tuna Poke, Jambalaya Pasta and Fish Tacos, along with gluten-free options and new ways to personalize orders with customized sides, a new steak program and three ways to order a burger.
The new lunch menu has nearly 20 options under $10.
"The lunch portions are the exact same size as they are for dinners," said Maria Finateri, sales am marketing manager. "The portions are huge. It's a nice option for lunch in downtown Royal Oak."
Blackfinn, which has been closed for three weeks during the renovation project, has new interior upgrades, including two new murals showcasing the Detroit area, new flooring, elevated booths and interior "garage doors" that can be opened to allow the restaurant to be experienced as one large space or closed to permit a smaller dining room to be used for gatherings such as company meetings/parties or wedding showers.
A small business room, which can seat as many as 35 people, has also received a fresh coat of paint and other upgrades.
"It's much brighter in here and we've given it a little more Detroit flavor as well," said Finateri.
There's also an updated 50 tap system that offers a variety of local and seasonal beer options, along with brand new cocktails-on-tap, such as BlackFiin Iced Tea with ketel one vodka. The wine list also has been expanded to include 30-plus wines by the glass.
Look for a daily happy hour, Wined Up Wednesdays and Craft Your Thursday, which offers a craft draft, any burger and fries for $11.99.
There is also plenty of room to watch big games or host community events. This week, during its soft opening, the restaurant will a fundraiser for Camp Casey, a nonprofit horseback riding program for children with cancer headquartered in Royal Oak.
Royal Oak is BlackFinn's fourth location under the Ameripub brand; the first is in Austin, Texas. Its owners are also partners of BlackFinn Ameripubs in Chicago and Merrifield, Virginia.
