Two armed men broke into several Shelby Township businesses last week and stole handguns and a vehicle.

The break-ins occurred at several businesses on 22 Mile Road between Ryan and Shelby roads sometime between midnight and 3 a.m. on Oct. 7.

Detective James Malczewski said police will not release the names of the businesses robbed because the case is under investigation.

Surveillance video at one of the businesses robbed rolled as the men, one carring a long gun and wearing a hoodie, and the other carrying a glock-type handgun in a holster on his right hip, riffled through the businesses.

During one of the crimes, the men stole a .44 caliber handgun and a 32-Winchester long gun, according to police.

A vehicle that was stolen from one of the businesses was later recovered in the township, said Malczewski.

“I think it’s an isolated incident. It happened a few days ago and not since. However, they appear to be heavily armed so we’re taking it very seriously,” said Malczewski.

The Shelby Township Police Department is looking for leads in these cases. Anyone with information about these cases is asked to contact Shelby Police Department at (586) 731-2121.
