Court Date Rescheduled for Man Who Allegedly Pointed Gun at Police

A pre-exam conference was rescheduled Tuesday for a 40-year-old St. Clair Shores man accused of pointed a shotgun at officers responding to a 911 call.

Court Date Rescheduled for Man Who Allegedly Pointed Gun at Police

The pre-trial exam in for a 40-year-old man who at St. Clair Shores police was adjourned Tuesday, and will have a forensic psychiatric exam regarding competency and criminal responsibility.

Jeffery Mugler is alleged to have pointed a gun at police Aug. 21 from the balcony of an apartment near Little Mack and 10 Mile roads, and fired a shot as officers arrived in response to a 911 call.

Officers fired a shot at Mugler after police said he did not comply with officers' commands to drop his weapon. He was struck in the chest/shoulder area, and remains hospitalized and in custody.

Mugler is charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of discharging a weapon in or at an occupied building and felony firearm charges.

Judge Mark Fratarcangeli granted a request by Mugler's attorney Timothy Kohler to have his client evaluated at Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Ypsilanti.
