A Judge on Wednesday ordered Troy must hold a May 2013 special election to replace former Troy Mayor Janice Daniels, who was recalled on Nov. 6.

City Prepares Proposed Timeline for May 2013 Special Election

Troy city officials have prepared a proposed May 2013 special election timeline after Oakland County 6th Circuit Court Judge Denise Langford Morris ruled Wednesday that the city must hold a special election in May to replace recalled Troy Mayor Janice Daniels.

The schedule has been prepared for the court's consideration and entry and is listed as agenda item O-07 on Monday evening's Troy City Council meeting agenda (see attached pdf file).

The proposed May 2013 Special Election timeline is as follows:

Jan. 25, 2013: Filing deadline for candidates for office (Charter 7.9 - 100 days)
Jan. 29, 2013: Withdrawal deadline for candidates for office
Jan. 30, 2013: Deadline to file challenges to petitions
Feb. 1, 2013: Clerk forwards candidate names to County
Feb. 21, 2013: Absentee Voter (AV) applications accepted
March 23, 2013: AV Ballots must be available
March 28-April 16, 2013: Precinct Inspectors appointed
April 1, 2013: Notice of close of registration published
April 8, 2013: Last day to register to vote on May 7, 2013
April 26, 2013: Write-in candidate filing deadline
April 30, 2013: Notice of Election published
April 30, 2013: Notice of Public Accuracy Test published
May 2, 2013: Public Accuracy test
May 4, 2013, 2 p.m.: Deadline for AV ballots by mail
May 6, 2013, 4 p.m.: Deadline for AV ballots in person
May 7, 2013, 4 p.m.: Deadline for emergency AV ballots
May 7, 2013: Election Day
