Mom: 'Inconsistencies' in Story of Daughter's Disappearance

A Troy woman says her daughter was last seen with a longtime friend from Hazel Park.

TROY, MI – A Troy woman is growing increasingly concerned about the welfare of her 21-year-old daughter, Jessica Leigh White, who she hasn’t seen or talked to since she went out with a friend late Friday.

Karen Black, White’s mother, reported her daughter missing on Saturday, The Detroit News reports. White had only $8 at the time, isn’t answering her cell phone or using her debit card, and didn’t show up for a babysitting job Sunday, according to the report.

“This is very unlike my daughter,” Black told the newspaper. “If she needed a ride home, she would have asked me. And there are inconsistencies in what some people have told police since then that bother me.

“All I want to do is find my daughter.”

White reportedly left the Troy home she and Black share late Friday with a longtime friend, a 24-year-old man from Hazel Park. White reportedly texted her mother and a cousin early Saturday morning, but there has been no contact since, according to the report.

Black said her daughter texted around 2:45 a.m. about an “awkward” situation involving her friend and his father. A cousin, Kaitlyn White, also received a text about that time that didn’t seem to convey urgency, she said. If she had wanted a ride, White would have called, her cousin said.

Missing persons reports were also filed in Hazel Park and Detroit. Troy police reportedly told Black that her daughter could be voluntarily missing. Black claims her daughter’s friend has changed his story about when and where he last saw White, causing her concern.

White, who is 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds, has partly dreadlocked dark brown hair and metal piercings on her left eyebrow, ears and tongue. She also has tattoos: a faded peace symbol on her right thumb and the world “loyalty” on her left arm. She was last seen wearing a long-sleeved “Nirvana” T-shirt with a smiley face, black yoga pants and gray Ugg boots.
