Over 150 students from eight area high schools gathered for the 20th annual Youth Law Conference, spending the day gaining knowledge of a variety of legal issues that pertain specifically to them — to help them become more informed and provide them to tools for responsible decision-making.

Hosted by the Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA) and its Law Related Education (LRE) committee, the high school juniors and seniors convened at the Management Education Center in Troy on Tuesday, April 15.

High schools represented were:

·      Clarkston

·      Clarenceville

·      Eton Academy

·      Farmington

·      Farmington Harrison

·      Lamphere

·      Troy

·      West Bloomfield

Students were split into groups to attend workshops covering a range of topics, such as “You Are the Only You! Protect Your Identity and Credit,” “Criminal Law,” “How to Keep Your Work Environment Ideal” and “Cyberspace Minefields,” among others.

The Oakland County Bar Association, founded in 1934 and includes more than 3,100, serves the professional needs of its members while promoting legal education and the delivery of quality legal services to the public.
