Hi, this is Eagan Funfest Ambassador Katherine checking in again. Our schedule hasn't been as busy lately, but yesterday, March 22, I attended the AFAA (food allergy awareness) walk at the Mall of America.
It started out a little rough, with a 4:40am wakeup. When Karina, Julia, and I arrived, we met our royal friends from Inver Grove Heights. We were ecstatic to see them. Anyone from the Sparkle Section can always light up a room and brighten my day. We took to greeting walkers at the mall door. Most of them were a little groggy and tired like us. After greeting duty was over, we strolled down and received our purple t-shirts to wear during the walk.
As Ambassadors, we did not participate in the walk. Instead, we took to our station between Forever 21 and Rainforest Cafe to cheer on the devoted walkers. It felt so good to help motivate the people. After the walk, we got to go through some booths and grab some healthy snacks- yes!
This was a cool event because almost anyone can relate to food allergies. I don't have any allergies myself, but I have a few friends with severe food allergies. It's nice to know there are organizations like this to help support these people.
It was such a great opportunity to be able to volunteer at this event. My sisters always have my back, even when the day doesn't have the most exciting start. I would like to thank everyone who helped make this opportunity possible for me. It's been such a blessing. I would also like to thank my sponsor, Art of Framing. The year is flying by too fast!
