Possible Drowning In Edina: Girl Pulled From Pool

EDINA, MN — A girl was hospitalized Saturday after she was found in the deep end of a pool at an Edina apartment complex. Edina police responded to the possible drowning on the 4500 block of Valley View Road at about 4:30 p.m.

Resident Kris Reuters told KSTP he was doing laundry when people rushed up to tell him about the drowning. Reuters told the news station he then went out to the pool and pulled the girl out.

She was transported to an area hospital, reports KARE 11. Her condition has not yet been released.

Unintentional drowning in U.S.

Every day, about ten people die from unintentional drowning in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Of those 10, two are children 14 or younger.

Drowning ranks fifth among the leading causes of unintentional injury death in the U.S.

Minnesota has seen a number of drowning-related incidents this spring, including a 5-year-old boy found unconscious in an Eagan pool last month.
