Teen Clinic Changes Name to 'myHealth For Teens and Young Adults'

West Suburban Teen Clinic leaders felt the name better matched the nonprofit’s goals and audience.

Teen Clinic Changes Name to 'myHealth For Teens and Young Adults'

After 40 years in operation, the West Suburban Teen Clinic is updating its name to better reflect the work it does across three counties.

The local nonprofit, which has clinics in Excelsior and Hopkins, will now be known as “myHealth for Teens and Young Adults,” with the motto “Staying well means staying well informed.”

Leaders felt the former name no longer described the full extent of the organization’s services or audience. It isn’t just for the western suburbs. It serves Hennepin, Carver and Scott Counties. It isn’t just for teens. It works with young residents up to 23 years old. And it is so much more than a clinic. From dental services to counseling to educational programs, the local nonprofit offers a range of assistance.

The organization began the search for a new name by brainstorming 2,401 names. It whittled those down to 500 names and then to three choices through online surveys and discussions with constituent groups. Residents then voted on a new name and tagline at community events, such as the Raspberry Festival.

myHealth started using its new name immediately. Windows on the Hopkins clinic were decorated with the new name and logo soon after the announcement Sept. 28 at its 40th Anniversary “ Homecoming Dance Gala.”
