CLIMB Theatre to Perform Free Anti-Bullying Play in Lakeville

Editor's note: The following is a press release from CLIMB Theater.

Three CLIMB Theatre actors will be visiting Kenwood Trail Middle School at 7 p.m. on Dec. 4 to perform "Lockdown," a free play open to students in grades 4 and up, parents and educators.

"Lockdown" is a play that deals with examples of physical, verbal, and social harassment, as well as cyberbullying. It explores the reasons why bystanders frequently choose not to take action when they see another person being harassed. "Lockdown" models positive bystander behavior and illustrates both the positive and negative possible consequences of intervention.

About the Play

Todd Slichter has managed to steer clear of the rumors, gossip, insults, and fights rampant through out his middle school until Todd's lab partner, Stacia, begins bullying his other lab partner, Byron. As Todd and Byron build an unlikely friendship, Todd begins to feel empathy for his new friend, especially when Stacia launches a vicious campaign of cyberbullying aimed at Byron. Still, it takes a lockdown to finally push Todd, the bystander, into action.
