The Rice County Drug Task Force last week arrested two people in Northfield operating a "long-term larger scale marijuana dealing endeavor," according to charging documents filed in Rice County District Court.

Kenneth Michael Carlson and Anna Christine Drivdahl, both 25, face multiple charges connected with the operation.

Carlson faces three fifth-degree drug charges, child endangerment, and receiving stolen property, all felonies. The drug charges include possession and and selling marijuana, as well as possession of Acetaminophen and Oxycodone.  The maximum penalty for all charges is up to 21 years in prison and/or $43,000 in fines.

Drivdahl faces two fifth-degree drug charges and child endangerment, all felonies. Those charges carry a maximum penalty of up to 11 years in prison and/or $23,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

The Rice County Drug Task Force last week executed a search warrant of a home on the 800 block of Division St. Carlson answered the door and was detained in the living room. A 9-month-old child was also in the house. Another person at the home, who was not charged, was allowed to take the child from the house.

Drivdahl later returned to the house and was detained.

Investigators found a "significant" amount of marijuana in a bedroom shared by Carlson and Drivdahl and both were arrested. Drivdahl told investigators that she doesn't sleep on that side of the bed and that her "man's business is her man's business."

According to the complaint, the following was found in a bedroom and the living room:

  • A total of 4.76 pounds of marijuana in several baggies
  • Several empty bulk baggies of marijuana, indicating marijuana had been sold
  • Western Union Money Gram receipts
  • New and unused packaging
  • Digital scale
  • $1,092 in cash from three compartments in a bag
  • Loose marijuana located under the bed that could have easily been ingested by a child
  • A pill bottle that contained one and a half pills of Acetaminophen and Oxycodone

An investigator also found ATV parts in the garage and, through the VIN number, was able to determine the parts in the garage were from a stolen ATV from the next block over from June 2012.

Carlson had a 2009 drug paraphernalia charge in Dakota County dismissed when he pleaded guilty to careless driving.

Carlson was released from Rice County Jail on a $1,000 conditional bail and next appears in court on Feb. 4. Drivdahl next appears in court on Feb. 20.
