Additional work is needed to complete the
Oakdale Library parking lot reconstruction, which was approved by the
Washington County Board of Commissioners Jan. 14., according to a press release from the county.
The work will require about an additional $35,000. The extra expense will be covered by the county’s capital repair fund.
T.A. Schifsky & Sons is overseeing the $250,000 parking lot and site improvement project at the library, according to the press release. The project will fix failed pavement and curb, as well as address drainage issues in the parking lot.
According to the release, when pavement was removed from the parking lot, "it revealed wet, weak soil directly underneath it, and there will be increased costs to get all the wet and weak soil out from the parking lot. It will also require increased costs for greater quantities of paving, concrete curb and sidewalk. It is expected that removing the poor soil will increase the pavement life and quality."
The project is expected to completed by May.
