Oakdale Police Blotter: Apartment Burglarized Overnight

In other reports, a woman tried to pass a fraudulent prescription and a man kicked in the door of a Granada Place home.

Oakdale Police Blotter: Apartment Burglarized Overnight

An Oakdale apartment-dweller reported that someone broke into her home while she was sleeping between midnight and 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

There was no sign of forced entry or damage to the doors of the apartment, which is located in a building in the 4000 block of Geneva Avenue, according to the report.

Two packs of cigarettes and $10 in quarters were stolen, the report says. Whoever came in left behind a burnt cigarette on her living room floor, according to the report.

The following incidents were also reported to Oakdale police March 26-27:

March 26:

  • A 1970 Lincoln Mark III and a 1985 Chevy Corvette were stolen from between 5 p.m. March 23 and 2 p.m. the next day.
  • An 18-year-old Oakdale man was cited for sending threatening text messages to his ex-girlfriend.

March 27:

  • A pharmacy employee reported that on March 24 a woman tried to pass a forged prescription, telling the pharmacist she was filling the prescription for her sister. Employees recognized the prescription was fraudulent and refused to fill it. Police contacted the woman named on the prescription and learned that her Medical Assistance card had been stolen and used in a forgery in St. Paul. Police are trying to locate the suspect.
  • A 36-year-old man with a traumatic brain injury was put on hold at Regions Hospital after he kicked in the front door of a home in the 3600 block of Granada Place. The man had a hammer in his pocket and seemed confused when confronted. During an interview he said he was hearing voices coming from the home asking for help. 
  • A resident in the 6400 block of 49th Street reported that sometime between December of 2011 and March 23 someone stole $2,500 worth of jewelry from her bedroom dresser including necklaces and earrings. She said the theft might have occurred during an open house in January.
  • A woman reported that around noon she took off her rings and set them on the counter in the women’s locker room at . She walked to her locker, and when she returned, the rings were missing. She was unsure of the value of the rings, but estimated they were worth about $1,000.

The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Incidents are listed in the order in which they were reported, not necessarily the order in which they occurred.
