Richfield Man Facing Felony Charges of Selling Cocaine

A Richfield man has been charged with selling cocaine after authorities say they found more than 5 ounces of the drug in his car.

Calvin Bankhead, 35, is charged with first-degree possession and first-degree sale of drugs, both felonies, each of which carries a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison and a $1 million fine.

According to the complaint, Hennepin County sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant on Bankhead’s car on July 13 and found a digital scale, a box of plastic bags and several plastic bags containing cocaine.

The cocaine weighed more than 5 ounces and had an estimated street value of $5,000. The sheriff’s deputy who signed the complaint noted that the amount of cocaine found in Bankhead’s car is “inconsistent with personal use.”

Bankhead’s criminal history in Minnesota includes a 2002 conviction for first-degree drug possession.

He remains in the Hennepin County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
