Bancroft Principal Marietta Chosen For Ramsey

Paul Marietta is leaving his post as principal at Bancroft Community School to head up the .

The new school will , students living in the Green Central and Hale-Field attendance areas who opt out of their K-8 school.

“Paul is a dynamic school leader who has been instrumental in leading programmatic changes at Bancroft during his tenure there as principal,” Minneapolis Public Schools Superintendent Bernadiea Johnson said in a written statement. “He will bring this same passion and drive to his new role at Ramsey.”

Principal at Bancroft since 2009, Marietta formerly worked as an district school reform specialist, a professional development specialist for the Minnesota Department of Education and an educational consultant with Mid Continent Research for Education and Learning, a non-profit educational research organization.

“I believe that a strong relationship between a school principal, teachers and parents is important in order to ensure educational success," Marietta said in the same written statement announcing his appointment. "I am excited to bring my experiences to Ramsey Middle School and I look forward to working with our school community to develop a strong program that engages students and prepares them for the 21st century.”

To make room for the new school, the current program will  to the former site of Folwell Middle School, near South High School. The move has  on the part of current Ramsey parents, who are working with the district to manage the transition.

Parents of Burroughs and Lyndale elementary students are invited to an open house at Ramsey on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ramsey building. Minneapolis Public Schools will open its doors to incoming middle school students and families, giving them an opportunity to meet teachers, tour buildings and preview curriculum.
