The Da Vinci Fest is now accepting online registrations for the popular science, art and film. Deadline for registering in the 2013 festival is Friday, Dec. 7.

Hosted by the Partnership Plan, the event—named after the artist and inventor Leonardo Da Vinci, who was well known for his connection to both art and science—was created as a way to showcase both the artistic and scientific creativity of area students.

Registration is open to all kids living in School District 834.  Da Vinci Fest is set for Saturday, Jan. 5 at Stillwater Area High School.

Science Fair

Students in grades 4 through 12 are encouraged to participate in the Science Fair. All fourth- and fifth-graders will receive a participation certificate, and the top percentages of exhibitors will receive blue, red or white ribbons.

Students in grades 6 through 12 will have the opportunity to proceed on to the Twin Cities Regional Science Fair. The judges’ comments and scoring at the Da Vinci Fest are intended to help participants achieve greater success at those levels. Students are encouraged to begin their independent research as soon as possible. Projects must be research experiments rather than models, collections or demonstrations.

Art Fair

The Art Fair is a chance for artists in grades 4 through 12 throughout the school district to display their art to a wider audience.

All forms of media will be represented and is a chance for students to display their best works. The artists’ work will be displayed at a 'gallery style' art reception on Friday night, Jan. 4. This reception is for friends and family members of the artists. On Saturday, Jan. 5 the art will be on display for the general public.

Award Recipients in grades 7 through 12 will have the opportunity to exhibit their art at a special showing for Da Vinci Fest winners. Judges’ comments and scoring at the Da Vinci Fest is intended to help participants achieve greater success with future art competitions.

Film Festival

The Da Vinci Fest is also accepting one- to two-minute videos. It can be a music video, a public service announcement or something else. Entries are encouraged to be original and creative. Videos must convey a positive message and be appropriate for all audiences.
