Stillwater Snowplow Truck Catches Fire

No one was injured after flames erupted from front end while the truck was plowing Wednesday.

Stillwater Snowplow Truck Catches Fire
Trucks that plow snow have to be ready for the cold, but one City of Stillwater vehicle faced a different challenge Wednesday: fire.

A city employee was driving a city-owned 2006 Chevy Silverado pickup truck, using a plow attachment, on Upper Levee Road at about 2:30 p.m. when he heard a pop sound from under the hood on the right side. Then smoke ... then fire.

He was able to get himself and belongings out safely, according to a report by the Stillwater Police Department. The Stillwater Fire Department also responded and put out the fire, which damaged the hood, engine and passenger compartment. Also on the scene was Stillwater Public Works, where the truck was towed.
