Feel the Vibration: Goga Studios Opens in Woodbury

The workout facility features machines that use “whole body vibration” to provide myriad benefits, owner says.

There was a bobblehead mayor sighting on Wednesday.

Woodbury Mayor Mary Giuliani Stephens checked out one of the machines at Goga Studios, a new workout facility that uses “whole body vibration” to give folks a workout in as little as 10 minutes.

The held a ribbon-cutting event for Goga Studios, the company’s first franchise to open in Minnesota. Stephens was the first to try out one of the studio’s 10 machines Wednesday.

“Your muscles are relaxed except the ones you’re supposed to engage,” she said.

Owner Deb Grabrian said her massage therapist turned her on to the workout, which provides benefits for everything from lower back pain to improved digestion.

“We would never have (opened the studio) if it didn’t help so many people,” she said.

Grabrian told those at the ceremony that the machines were originally used by Russian cosmonauts in the 1960s.

Despite the health benefits of the workout, which doesn’t induce sweating, Gabrian said people should still do cardio.

“We would never say that you do not need that,” she said. “That’s really quite crucial.”

Carol and Steve Peterson, of Woodbury, have been members for about a week and a half. Both said they have seen the benefits—aches and pains and shoulder issues have subsided for Carol, and Steve is snoring less.

“Within two days I was doing stuff I haven’t done in months,” Carol said.

Goga Studios, which also features an infrared sauna, opened about three weeks ago. It costs $49 a month for unlimited access. It is located at 755 Bielenberg Drive, suite 103. For more information visit gogastudios.com.
