National Children’s Chiropractic Month

If tooth decay is that prevalent in children, just think about the amount of stress on their spine that hasn’t manifested into symptoms or conditions.

National Children’s Chiropractic Month

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month... what about promoting a National Children’s Chiropractic Month?

“Over 50 percent of children ages 5-9 have at least one cavity or filling," Dr. Poonam Alaigh, Commissioner of New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services said on njtoday.net. Tooth decay is one of the most common problems for children; the Web site says it is five times more common than asthma and seven times as common as hay fever.

Every family knows about the benefits from regular oral hygiene, but do families in our community know about the benefits from spinal hygiene? If tooth decay is that prevalent in children, just think about the amount of stress on their spine that hasn’t manifested into symptoms or conditions. Everyone knows that the cavity is always present before the tooth starts to hurt. Why is that? That’s because the cavity is a sign of an unhealthy tooth and chances are it’s only getting worse with time. The National Library of Medicine even recognizes that cavities may be symptomless.

So let me ask you again, is there a National Children’s Chiropractic Month? If not, why does our community do such a great job of taking care part of the body that is mostly cosmetic? The spine should be maintained with proper check-ups from birth onward by a professional whose sole objective is to help restore any areas of malfunction called vertebral subluxation.

Vertebral subluxation is almost 100 percent synonymous with cavity, the only difference being vertebral subluxation effects every area of health and vitality in the body. If your child has a vertebral subluxation, their health vitality is less than 100 percent of their potential. If you’re saying, “I’m glad Johnny and Meagan don’t have back or neck pain so we don't have to bring them to the chiropractor this month." That's synonymous to, “I’m glad Johnny and Meagan don’t have tooth aches, so we don’t have to bring them to the dentist this month."

Your body can have areas of malfunction, leading to more problems with time, without you ever realizing it for yourself or your child.

“It’s never too early to instill in children the benefits of good oral hygiene. By building the proper foundation of dental care, parents can set the stage for a lifetime of healthy smiles,” noted Alaigh.

I would like to see a National Children’s Chiropractic Month and say it’s never too early or late to bring your infant, child or even teenager to your family chiropractor for a spinal check-up ensuring they have the ability to live up to their potential.
